Our Theory of Improvement

Where We’ve Been

On August 15th all the schools in the network gathered at Manual High School

  • During our time together we reoriented participants to the vision and goals of our network and the alignment with district priorities and the new DPS math vision

  • To launch our work this year we introduced Empathy Building as a vehicle for helping us better understand our students and their experiences

  • School teams took time during our session to plan for conducting observations and empathy interviews with students

Where We Are Going

  • During our first 'Action Period' (Aug 15 - Sep 22) teachers will be engaging in Empathy Building with their students

  • Teachers will conduct a minimum of 2 low-inference observations and empathy interviews to collect data on students' feelings and experiences with discussions in math classrooms

  • School teams will come together ahead of our September network meeting to reflect on empathy data and debrief their learning

  • Our network will come together on September 22nd to reflect on empathy data and select change ideas to begin testing
