Where We’ve Been
On August 15th all the schools in the network gathered at Manual High School
During our time together we reoriented participants to the vision and goals of our network and the alignment with district priorities and the new DPS math vision
To launch our work this year we introduced Empathy Building as a vehicle for helping us better understand our students and their experiences
School teams took time during our session to plan for conducting observations and empathy interviews with students

Where We Are Going
During our first 'Action Period' (Aug 15 - Sep 22) teachers will be engaging in Empathy Building with their students
Teachers will conduct a minimum of 2 low-inference observations and empathy interviews to collect data on students' feelings and experiences with discussions in math classrooms
School teams will come together ahead of our September network meeting to reflect on empathy data and debrief their learning
Our network will come together on September 22nd to reflect on empathy data and select change ideas to begin testing
